Someone asked me the other day why I stopped wearing this parka... THIS is why. I remember trying to convince him to add a parka to his wardrobe but he was skeptical about pulling it off and wouldn't listen to me. I found this in the men's section at Gap a few months ago, bought it for myself, and sold the parka I used to have thinking that I'd found a good replacement. Ahh well, it fits him better anyway! I'm still looking for an olive green parka though. I almost bought one from A.P.C. that I blogged about here but it sold out! Bummer. Has anyone seen any good ones out there?

Anyway, I have BIG news to share...

I'm going to New York next month!

Did I ever mention that I've never been to the East Coast? Weird travel phobia, I guess. I've never really cared about going but I figured I'd finally plan a trip out there since a few of my friends are going. I'm not sure how many Fashion Week related activities I'll be participating in but we'll see. I haven't really thought about that, I'm more excited about going on an actual vacation! Is anyone else going? I'll be there September 8th-13th!

My current go-to bag (in my favorite color) and botched nail(s). I like to steal Lulu's nail polish when I see her lol. I'm currently trying to kill time before my aunt, her boyfriend, a cousin, and my younger brother get here from LA. BF is currently in Alaska and I won't see him for another week. This weekend I have to show my family around doing touristy things I never do and missing Wolf Parade. Speaking of bands I liked in high school, anyone listened to the new Arcade Fire? Still not sure what I think about it but I'll get back to you.

In other news, I had a dress named after me, so thanks Modcloth! I'd be wearing that dress right now if the weather weren't so bad in the Bay Area right now. I'm saving it for LA next week. I also answered a couple questions for their blog here and after rereading it I just realized that I'll never be as suave or cool as I'd like to be. Maybe I should have fudged the answers to seem more interesting lol. //sarcasm

happy birthday blog

Guess who forgot her blog's anniversary? Okay, really, so what if I'm off by two days. Hard to believe it's only been a year since I started this little project but here we are. I didn't think it would take off this well and I'm really thankful for all of the opportunities that have sprung up because of it. These photos were actually taken a week before I started the blog for a Shipley & Halmos lookbook on the Tobi website. I suppose I just never got around to posting them because I was a bit embarrassed since I'm just not used to modeling or putting myself out there like that.

The best part about it? Meeting the designers! They were so personable and fun to hang out with although I did feel a little awkward about trying to pose in front of them wearing their creations. I even snapped these polaroids of them before I left! Other than that, my memory fails me since it has been over a year but you can see the behind the scenes blog here. I'm also kind of kicking myself for not picking up that first cocktail dress when I had the chance to find a birthday dress. Ahh well.

Anyway, again, thank you everyone for visiting, commenting, and coming back! I probably would have quit this a long time ago but am having too much fun to walk away! Here's to another year of sharing my life with you guys and seeing where this blog will take me.

I don't know how else to put this but at the moment I'm recovering from a minor surgical procedure and it'll be very difficult to blog regularly for a while. It's nothing too serious, just really unbelievably painful and I won't be fully recovered for another month. I also can't keep up with my difficult 8am to 5:30pm schedule in this condition, so I have to drop two of my classes and take them next semester instead. So yup, I can't graduate this Spring like I'd intended to and I have to live with this for the next few weeks. I'm confused, worried, and disappointed but I just have to remember that it could be much worse. Thankfully I have my amazing boyfriend who has been taking care of me on his days off and has made the pain a lot more bearable even when the vicodin doesn't seem like enough. Even with all of these sudden changes to my life, I'm trying my best to keep my head up and not end up depressed but it's going to be difficult. Thanks for hanging in there, guys.

While my posts were already sporadic to begin with, I'm afraid this little trip home is making me more lazy than usual. I'll try my best to get people to take my pictures for outfit shots but 75% of the time I'm going to be in my pajamas watching kdramas and anime. Or at tea shops drinking jasmine milk tea with my new Totoro keychain.

Blog friends, if you are in the LA area, let me know! The more things to do, the better.

Busy, busy day. Spent the whole day going to class, cleaning out my closet, taking pictures and updating a separate blog for things I'm selling. Yep, I caved and created SHOP BLUSHING AMBITION. Most of the things are vintage finds that I've acquired over the years so it's definitely worth a look. Right now I have a couple sweaters, cardigans, blouses, and blazers for sale. Here's a navy blazer with gold buttons that is up for grabs:

Oh, and today I finally ventured out to my local overpriced *ahem* organic market and realized how much I hate to love it. For lunch I made a toasted onion and poppyseed bagel sandwich with slices of smoked ham from the deli, havarti cheese, a couple grape tomatoes on the side, and the best mayonnaise I've ever tasted. I have a crazy obsession with mayo which is strange considering that Pika has a mayo phobia. I guess that's just one thing we'll never agree on, hmph. Not going to lie, I picked up the bottle of Kewpie just because it was from Japan and ridiculously adorable but its taste blew me away. It's even better than homemade mayo! I heard it's because of the MSG... oh dear.
