Beach Slapped

Went surfing at Huntington Beach on Saturday morning with Wesley Mason and while I was getting beach slapped by the waves, Wesley Mason got to surf only 10ft away from the dolphins. I am so sore from being out of shape so we spent our Sunday just chilling by the beach in Malibu. Can't wait to hit the waves again before this summer ends and before I leave for Fashion Week!

Stopped by the Standard in downtown LA before driving back to SF with some friends. I arrived at the tail end of the party since I'd been hanging out with my family and getting lunch at Boiling Crab in Alhambra. SO FREAKING GOOD. Anyway I knew I wasn't missing much at the Standard other than overpriced drinks so I didn't really care about missing the pool party. I don't really go out much when I'm visiting family in LA anyway. Right now I'm hanging out with my younger brother and cousin who are up visiting from LA and are here for one more night. Sorry for being so M.I.A. this week!

Got this beautiful dress from my little sister's closet. She thought it was too girly for her so she willingly gave it to me (after I gave her a pair of shoes.) I love all the bright colors on this dress and the cut of this dress is so beautiful with the kimono sleeves.

Although not pictured, the back of this dress is beautiful too with a very low v-neck, it shows the right amount of skin.

Matching Colors

I went fabric shopping today for a client's home and I got inspired by all the beautiful fabric at the stores that I got a few for myself to make something but to be honest, I sort of lack the skills and time to make anything... At least they're pretty to look at for now.

Super Easy Chalkboard DIY

What you'll need: A pretty frame, thin board such as particle board to use as your chalkboard, primer, chalkboard paint, saw, and a roller to paint the board

1. Make a template of the board. If your frame already comes with a board, just use that and sand it so the surface is smooth

2. Saw the board. If you have a wonderful boyfriend like me, ask him to do it for you. (double plus if he cleans the saw dust too!)

3. Apply a coat of primer onto the board and when that dries, paint the board with chalkboard paint

4. Wait at least 3 full days before you start writing!

Warning: Don't start painting it on your skin wondering if you can be a human chalkboard.

*Update* I got my frame from the Fairfax Flea Market this day. See me looking pretty determined to bring the frame back home with me?

Unlike San Francisco, the architecture in LA isn't that interesting; full of Spanish style homes (my favorite btw) and a few Art Deco buildings. However, what we lack in architecture, we make it up with amazing street art. It's like your walking through an outdoor gallery.

I'm down in LA right now for my brother's birthday so this post will be fairly brief, sorry guys! This was actually from earlier in the week and was what I was wearing when I saw the dude from Arcade Fire at Barney's. Of all the things to be wearing when I run into someone cool like that I wear an outfit that makes me look like an 8-year-old kid, oh great. Seems like these overalls aren't such a big hit with the guys... every girlfriend that I've shown them to want a pair but my guy friends always cringe. Ahh well, who do I have to impress?

I also realized that I don't post very many pictures of myself with Brent but that's usually because he's the one taking my photos! This time Mike was with us so he took these, hah. Speaking of Mike, when he saw my feature at Gap Mag he asked me why I didn't submit any photos of him. Pfft. As if a whole post dedicated to him wasn't already enough? So ungrateful!

This has to be by far the busiest summer I've ever had. Since I've been working on clients' homes and other side projects, I haven't had the time to actually decorate my place so I did a little bit of home shopping today for some necessities (more mirrors and lamps lol)

Hey, I'm wearing a hat! I'd been wanting to order this wool Pendleton hat for a while but always doubted that I'd be able to pull it off so I never got around to it. I don't know, I've always felt weird about wearing hats... I own a floppy hat from American Apparel but that's about it. I must have been on a lucky streak that day since I found this hat at a fraction of the price at Painted Bird right after seeing Win Butler shopping in the mens section at Barney's. Crazy, huh? I was looking at an A.P.C. shirt when I glanced up and saw him right in front of me but couldn't figure out how I knew him so I stared awkwardly at him until I realized, "OH SHIT THAT'S THE GUY FROM ARCADE FIRE RIGHT?" Funny how this ends up happening a few months after I wrote a long heartfelt post about them. I already felt really weird when he noticed that I was staring at him trying to figure out who he was so I didn't want to disrupt his shopping experience and left without saying anything. That would've been way too awkward, I'm content with just running into him.

I wore this to get burgers at Chez Maman in Potrero with my friends Chanel and Trang. Speaking of which, aren't my babies adorable? Since I don't have an "official" blog photographer I usually test my camera settings manually on whomever I happen to be with. So cute!

Wesley Mason is finally coming back to LA today and I couldn't be happier. Although the past week has been the busiest week ever since I moved back to LA, I missed my Wesley Mason too much and it was no fun. Looking forward to another insanely busy week. Bring it on!
