wren summer 2010

Wren, you're making me weak in the knees. That skirt + blazer combo is ace! You guys think there's a chance these pieces will still be available on sale? I've had my eye on that skirt but it sold out. I wish it were easier to find smaller brands like these on sale but all the good stuff seems to disappear before I can finally get my hands on it...

no. 6 clogs at creatures of comfort

clockwise from top left: 1, 2, 3, 4

BF hates clogs yet I still love them. He always makes a point of texting me whenever I post something about clogs on my Twitter just to tell me that he thinks they're disgusting. Good thing I never listen to him, I mean, look at these colors! I don't even know where to start. The strappy blue ones maybe?

(Look at me pretending to think that I can actually bring myself to buy a pair, hmph. I need a second job...)

hansel from basel sale

Pssssssssst here's a pro tip: there's a sale going on over at Hansel from Basel featuring previous collections. Knee pad thigh highs, be mine! For anyone who's curious about the quality, the pairs that I've bought throughout the years have lasted me a while and are definitely worth the price.

camp vivier 2010

Excuse me while I kick myself for not booking a flight to LA in time for Refinery 29's East/West Tag Sale. In addition to skipping out on Thursday's kick off party, I also missed out on the debut of Clare Vivier's CAMP VIVIER collection at 50% off. 50% OFF?! Now that's just not fair. The collection is available online of course but I don't really have the money to spend at the moment. Oh well. I'd originally been saving up for the messenger bag but I may just end up changing my mind when I get the money for this one. BF's sister actually has the all leather Tropézienne bag in brown but I think I'd prefer the canvas one because of the color contrast. What do you think? Should I save up for my original bag or go for the summer-friendly canvas tote? If you haven't already had the chance, check out the rest of Clare Vivier's collection and her blog.

favorite picks: totokaelo

Being on the Totokaelo website makes my wallet hurt. How can one store have so many of the things on my wishlist? The number one items on my list is the above Margiela bag. I've been thinking about seriously splurging on a bag that will last me years, and since I'm not big on the overtly classic and apparent luxury bags, I'd rather have something like this one which fits everything and will encourage me to stop switching bags so often. Other things on my list include a pair of simple black Karen Walker sunglasses, those Rachel Comey booties, and more.

The website was just relaunched today and it super easy to navigate but my favorite part of the site is the styling suggestions on the first page. I'd actually purchased my Acne trousers and have been a member for a couple months and if you find anything you seriously like, I suggest you sign up for membership and join the Totokaelo community. I'm crossing my fingers that a few of my favorites go on sale soon!

I promise I'm not getting paid to endorse them, hahh. I'm trying to experiment more with this blog, and I'm sure you'd like to see a bit more of what's in my head, right? Let me know what you think. Click through images to see the product links.

seeing red

clockwise from top left: one, two, three, four

A couple things I have my eye on at Anthropologie and all of them happen to be red. Did you know that it's my 21st birthday at the end of the month? Yes, I'm one of those late November babies and while all of my friends with earlier birthdays have already been going to bars for months, I've been stuck at home counting down the days. I've also been looking out for a special birthday dress since BF says I'll need something exceptionally nice for where he's taking me. I'm thinking strapless with a full skirt? Meh, I have a month to think about it. Wait, how did I go from Anthropologie to my birthday? Oh, yeah, I was about to mention the 15% off card that members get to use during their birthday months. I guess I just have to hold out until I get mine sometime this month.

saint james striped shirts at lark

Before leaving to visit Vancouver a month ago, my friend Mikey raved about how excited he was to go shopping there and showed me the Lark store's website where he planned to go to check out their selection of Saint James striped shirts. He ended up purchasing a short sleeved top with navy stripes and upon seeing it I was seriously tempted to run away with it. One of these days I'll get a picture of how he wears it! Although I do regret not having asked him to bring me back one, I'm still planning on ordering from the site when I get the chance. I'm thinking maybe red stripes with 3/4 sleeves? Or a short sleeved navy one like Mikey's? Or perhaps both? I can't decide!

In any case, posting about this was primarily sparked by a visit to the site after seeing it on him a few days ago and a need to spread the word since I've received a couple of emails asking where readers can get striped shirts like mine. While everyone doesn't have the chance to score at vintage or thrift stores, I'd say that these Saint James shirts are a great alternative. Wait, what am I saying? These shirts are way better than any ratty old tee! I need to stop myself from buying their whole selection. For now, here are these amazing shots that I found at the Lark blog. I'm a sucked for these colors in photos.

(my) perfect graphic tee

acne thea printed tee via creatures of comfort

I don't usually overly obsess over clothing but I actually gasped when I saw this. I've always had a soft spot for black designs on slightly oversized white tees (have I ever shown you guys my Zara face tee?) but this one takes the cake. Ho-ly crap. If you're new here, I should probably mention that I study ancient cultures on a daily basis and upon finding this I nerded out for a good ten minutes trying to figure out if when I should buy it or how I would blog about it. Well, more like twenty minutes if you count the additional ten that it took trying to properly articulate myself in front of this computer screen. Ahh damn.

oliver peoples lukas eyeglasses

I'm going to my optometrist on Monday and need help picking new frames! I currently have a pair of dull black framed Gucci ones but I want something different this time around. I've had my eye on these Oliver Peoples frames but can't figure out which color I want! Part of me really wants to try something new and go for the crystal frames but is that too much? I need opinions!

simplicity at its best

I really regret not having booked a flight to Japan this summer when I had the chance! I guess you can blame it on my inability to stomach long flights across the ocean. In any case, I'm really into Trip's aesthetic and their women's line Prit. I'd love to be able to reduce my wardrobe to a select few simple key pieces but I'm way too fickle to do it at this point of my life. Maybe when I hit a certain point in maturity? Who knows...

grumble grumble

Right when I finally found the perfect oversized no-fuss canvas tote bag, it was gone. POOF! I remember throwing a fit last week when I found out it was gone. I mean, where else would I be able to find a simple bag like this for summer that is bigger than two normal totes combined? It's still sold out but I'm crossing my fingers that they will restock eventually (preferably after I get a job and have enough money). At least BF got his Acne order in. Ugh, shopping woes.

dreaming of you

via oak nyc

I'm pretty sure I had a dream last night starring this bag. The details are fuzzy but I know there was some weird worshiping going on at some point. Umm, I guess wine does that to you? But seriously, I really would like my next splurge to be a functional every day bag of some sort but I doubt I can justify the price tag on this one. The latest MBMJ Dr. Q Groovee, on the other hand, seems more realistic for my college budget. I'm glad they went back to the pebbled leather and got rid of the weird straps harnessing the bag. I'm thinking June so I can properly celebrate the end of this annoying semester.

(REMINDER TO SELF: WINE AND ALLERGY MEDICATION ON AN EMPTY STOMACH DO NOT MIX WELL)
