Final shop update went up yesterday! A big thanks to everyone who has purchased something from my blog so far. I really appreciate your support! Sometimes I wonder if I should open an actual online vintage store but even my dinky little shop required more time than I thought so it would have to be a full time gig... wishful thinking, wishful thinking! Anyway, I wore this the other day when Brent and I went to In-N-Out. Usually we would just stay in for most of the day on our computers but the weather in San Francisco has been so nice lately that we actually stepped outside of his apartment for more than an hour.

Oh, and because someone said that I look down too much in my photos:

LOL. In addition to In-N-Out we also went to The Buena Vista Cafe for drinks. Oh damn those Irish Coffees were strong.

I'm currently on my way to San Francisco for my friend's birthday celebration. Megan and I are bringing a bangin' blood orange chocolate torte from Masse's, oh man. I was wearing this earlier when we were waiting for the post office line to let up. Speaking of which, I updated my blog shop late last night. I've been posting stuff in increments because the emails and shipping can get overwhelming. I still have 35 (!!!) more pictures uploaded that I need to publish and they're mostly tops and sweaters but I still need to write up descriptions. I'm aiming for having everything posted by tomorrow night or Sunday! I'm moving in a week, ahhhh. I can't believe this is actually happening.

closet challenge

So it looks like I may be moving to a much smaller place next month which means I have to get rid of most of my belongings. I'm trying really, really hard to condense my wardrobe especially since I know that I only wear about a 1/3 of it but it's so difficult to part with things when I'm so attached to them. I need to use these next two weeks to slowly purge my closet and figure out what works best in my closet. I didn't realize how draining this would be until I actually sat down and started sorting through everything. At one point I actually became really frustrated with myself for accumulating so much and had to step away for a couple minutes after realizing that I had a problem. Has anyone else ever experienced this? I'm expecting to feel cleansed (or some crap like that) at the end of this ordeal but right now I just feel overwhelmed.

I'm planning on donating most of it but since many people have been asking me about my shop I ended up making a Tumblr for these sales. I haven't put anything up yet but some cheap jeans (all below $20 shipped) and shirts should be up by tomorrow. My leftover silk shirts should be going up next week (it's going to take a lot more effort to let go of those since they're special to me) and I'll be parting with a couple sweaters as well.

laundry day

Outfit from two days ago, I'm currently studying for a midterm and quiz so I don't have much to say. Wore this out to get ice cream and other treats. I updated my blog shop yesterday but it seems like most of the things are already gone, sorry guys! I'll try to get some more stuff up next week since I'm still cleaning out my closet but can't bring myself to sell certain shirts...

Doing laundry and cooking dinner: an ideal Sunday afternoon. I feel like a fraud wearing an apron since I'm only assigned menial tasks like prepping the rosemary or crumbling cheese. Tonight we Brenty is making pork tenderloin with gorgonzola sauce and rosemary potatoes on the side. I was actually supposed to cook this meal but freaked out last minute because, well, I'm not very confident in my skills. One day, one day.

Also, a couple announcements. First, I updated my blog shop with a couple goodies including brand new April 77 jeans and a Trovata skirt! Second, I just found out that I'm the grand winner of the Chictopia Beso Inspired Contest! Thanks to everyone who voted for me, next month I get to be their August Fashion Correspondent!

Taking a break from reading for a quick post! I finally resumed my closet cleaning but it's getting harder and harder to part with things. That hoarding show on TLC has really been freaking me out and while my apartment doesn't look like those featured, I'm afraid my closet just keeps getting worse. No closet tours for the time being...

spring fever

One day of uninterrupted sunshine wedged between stormy weather and I already think I can get away with dressing like this. Yes, I may not have stepped out of my apartment at all today but I can pretend, right? My bangs have been pissing me off so I'm taking advantage of my day off to explore a life without them. The final verdict? I wouldn't mind doing this every once in a while...

With Spring coming up, I thought I'd tackle the monster mess in my closet to get a head start on spring cleaning. Umm, is it too late to admit that I am a closet hoarder? I found this awesome oversized sweater that I totally forgot I'd purchased and threw it on as soon as I found it. I found a couple other things as well but I should really stick to my resolution and stop hoarding all of these articles of clothing. Wouldn't they be better on someone who would actually wear them? After running into problems with my blog shop (i.e. people not paying, listing the wrong address, etc.) I considered shutting it down but I'm going to give it one more go. I'm listing three cream silk tops this time so stay tuned! The entries will go up around 8pm pacific time.

how to use a point-and-shoot camera

I'm getting more and more frustrated with the condition of my point-and-shoot camera every day. The lens only pops out correctly 30% of the time now and doesn't focus as well as it used to. I've always thought about getting a DSLR but I was so attached to and content with the little bugger that I always dismissed it. I mean, why bother when most people are surprised to find out that I don't already own a DSLR? But now... well, now that it isn't working it seems necessary. Since it's so close to my birthday (November 29th) I'm just going to ask my dad for one but I'm starting to get a little impatient and I'm tempted to ask for it a month early.

The secret behind making a point-and-shoot camera work well is simple: take advantage of every setting possible and know how to manipulate the light around you. Ideally you want to aim for taking photos in really good lighting; the more lighting you have, the less you have to adjust the shutter speed and end up with blurry pictures. Tripods are also useful since they help produce clearer photos and are more reliable than a hand attempting to be steady. The above photos were taken in a well lit place using the macro setting (usually indicated by a flower) and a tripod. The more familiar you are with your camera, the more reliable your photos will be so play around with the settings and find out what works best for you. DSLRS don't automatically produce spectacular photos and it's up to the user's ability to use it to its fullest extent and the same applies to point-and-shoot cameras.

SHOP BLUSHING AMBITION UPDATED

Taking these photos took two or three times longer than usual because of my broken camera but I managed to pull it off somehow. I just put up a ton of items for sale on my blog so go check them out! Somehow this batch seemed to take the most effort out of me because they're things I'd love to keep but just can't because of the space in my closet. It's already taken a lot to stop myself from taking down at least two of the posts! I listed mostly fall items which are perfect for the weather right now including a couple sweaters, jackets, and tops.

Busy, busy day. Spent the whole day going to class, cleaning out my closet, taking pictures and updating a separate blog for things I'm selling. Yep, I caved and created SHOP BLUSHING AMBITION. Most of the things are vintage finds that I've acquired over the years so it's definitely worth a look. Right now I have a couple sweaters, cardigans, blouses, and blazers for sale. Here's a navy blazer with gold buttons that is up for grabs:

Oh, and today I finally ventured out to my local overpriced *ahem* organic market and realized how much I hate to love it. For lunch I made a toasted onion and poppyseed bagel sandwich with slices of smoked ham from the deli, havarti cheese, a couple grape tomatoes on the side, and the best mayonnaise I've ever tasted. I have a crazy obsession with mayo which is strange considering that Pika has a mayo phobia. I guess that's just one thing we'll never agree on, hmph. Not going to lie, I picked up the bottle of Kewpie just because it was from Japan and ridiculously adorable but its taste blew me away. It's even better than homemade mayo! I heard it's because of the MSG... oh dear.
